Revco Interview Live from House Of Blues In LA

http://ghostlaborradio.com/interviews.aspx?i=117

Rudy D. interview with REVCO at House Of Blues in Los Angeles.

"So, gather up yourselves and your tattooed crazies, circus freaks, strippers, perverts and deviant friends who are looking for a good time, with some ear lashing tunes, and rejoice! Cummin’ to your town soon are your favorite ambassadors of sleaze, and they’ve put together an entourage of sick-os and set out to take North America by storm. Launching the tour from Jourgensen’s hometown of El Paso, TX, The Revolting Cocks embark upon a full-frontal-assault of the US and Canada with a fresh crop of “cocks and pussies” as part of their ever-changing live lineup. RevCo is out to prove once more that they are the top of the heap and/or man pile when it comes to good-old-down-home-dark-side-oversexed-fun!
Appropriately enough, RevCo has invited Blownload as their Special Guest, as well as the likes of Canadian cyberpunks, Left Spine Down, to kick off the event.

And in support of the tour, and release of Sex-O Olympic-O, the RevCo family is introducing your ears to its cousin release, the appropriately titled Sex-O MiXXX-O, a 10-track remix package featuring a star studded cast of remixers on board. This dark delightful treat has been touched by the hands of Marilyn Manson’s and Tweaker talent, Chris Vrenna, Skinny Puppy’s Dave “Rave” Olgilvie, Gravity Kills’ Doug Firley, Combichrist’s Andy LaPlegua as well as Revolting Cock and 13th Planet’s very own Clayton Worbeck. This is set for release on September 29, 2009 through Al Jourgensen’s 13th Planet Records/ Megaforce.?

Straight Line Stitch Interview with Charlie Wise

http://ghostlaborradio.com/interviews.aspx?i=118

http://www.myspace.com/straightlinestitch

Knoxville, TN-based Straight Line Stitch traces its origins back to the turn of the millennium when a lineup vaguely recognizable from the modern-day membership presented a tag-team vocal style.

This early shadow of the band laid the groundwork for a collective which is gradually improving via an assembly of the current members. Straight Line Stitch might previously have been known for their rather fast and heavy style, but the refinement of their music has been forged in an itinerary of relentless touring and the result is maturity as a band, in which they have improved their brand of metal significantly.

Their signature sound has broadened over the years into a diverse amalgam of groove, hardcore, rock, thrash, and grind whose tonality runs the full spectrum of frantically random to upliftingly melodic, and their compositions strike a balance between accessibility for a wide general audience and progressiveness for more cerebral listeners.

Supe Interview with Charlie Wise

http://ghostlaborradio.com/interviews.aspx?i=120

http://www.myspace.com/supe

“Supe Rocks!”…that’s what you’ll hear from those who’ve seen or heard this LA-based aggressive rock band. But it doesn’t stop there. Supe (pronounced ‘shoop’) has a surprise. The band is Japanese. But there’s nothing foreign about their music. Cut from the same cloth as Breaking Benjamin and Hoobastank, Supe is nothing but all-American hard rock.

In 2003, the guys relocated to Long Beach, California to perfect their international sound and expand the reach of their energetic live shows. With the 2006 self-release of their successful six-song EP Grow in the Cold, produced by Sylvia Massy-Shivy (Tool, System of a Down), Supe launched their first US tour with 50+ dates from coast to coast.

Then in 2007 the EP was picked by Buddy Records in their native Japan and a subsequent homecoming release tour followed to eager fans. This landed the band on the covers of various “in-country” rock magazines and a feature on MTV-Japan.

Back in the US Supe launched a follow-up tour and released their single Shade to radio. The independent EP sold in impressive 10,000+ units prompting a full 11-song follow-up CD with the support of Buddy Records in Japan as well as the US partner Activate Ent.

Once again producer Massy-Shivy went to work yielding the 2008 release 2nd Place To None, which took the band to new levels with the power-ballad Perfect Libra along with rock anthems, Do I Care and Crash. Supe then took to the road hitting over 65 cities in the U.S. and Japan for their Summer Rocks 2008 Tour including several stops on the VANS WARPED TOUR.

In 2009 Supe toured Japan with (hed) p.e. and then quickly jetted to Taiwan and China to join mega-rock band Story of the Year for a series of dates before returning home to the US to record a follow up CD and launch the much anticipated Hed to Head Tour criss-crossing the US for the summer with (hed) p.e and Mushroomhead.

HED P.E. Interview with Charlie Wise

http://ghostlaborradio.com/interviews.aspx?i=121

http://www.myspace.com/hedpe

For over a decade, Huntington Beach, CA's (Hed) p.e have taken the lead of the punk-rock forefathers and empowered themselves to take control of their music. With the July 8, 2008 release of (Hed) p.e's new live CD/DVD 2-disc set "The D.I.Y Guys", the band is embracing the punk-rock work ethos to its fullest.

"The D.I.Y ethic is the band's lifeblood and without it we could not exist in 2008," says frontman Jared Gomes. "It means not waiting for people to do everything for you. We don’t wait for anyone whether it’s artwork or recording or anything in between. We are never too proud to do it ourselves."

(Hed) p.e’s explosive live show was caught on tape for the release of the group’s first live album and DVD release. The live CD portion was captured at Hollywood's legendary Key Club where the band performed a mixture of classic (Hed) p.e tracks as well as new fan favorites from their latest studio album "Insomnia". The DVD includes 13 live tracks as well as music videos, behind the scenes footage, interviews and punk-rockumentary film clips from the band's decade-long tour history.

"A lot of bands say their shit is live, but I know for a fact that they go in and patch things. Our band isn't trying to provide our people with some polished piece of crap," says Jared. "Our shows are raw and like explosive, and the live stuff is raw and explosive as well. Like the microphones get unplugged, the guitars go out of tune, but (Hed)pe is raw and a statement that is unapologetic."

The Crisis Concert Review

http://ghostlaborradio.com/interviews.aspx?i=103

The Crisis - http://www.myspace.com/thecrisis

Here we were, ready for the Crisis to take the stage. The night was right, the crowd was hyped, and the group did not disappoint. As a veteran of many Houston based CD release parties, what made this party stand out was the number of guests there to see the band. A lot of bands locally do not draw such a big crowd for their release parties, so it is somewhat hard to get into the fact that the CD is actually being made available that night. Fortunately this wasn't the case with the Crisis. Not only that, but the crowd knew a good portion of the older material that they played and sang along which sealed the deal.

Let me say that the lead singer BC is definitely a stage presence in his own right. He knows what it takes to get his crowd going and the group came with the kind of spunk and desire that you see from experienced hands making their craft. Charlie was on his drum game and George rocked on out on the bass guitar, while BC delivered exquisitely timed lyrics to their songs. The 180 degree turn they took in playing a country song "I'm So Tired" was a cool departure from the mix of rock and progressive rock and didn't alter the overall vibe of the show at all. If anything it added to the feeling that the band is talented and able to play a variety of sounds. On one song, they had a fusion of hip hop and rock and even called their guest hip hop artist featured on the song to play on stage. The crowd was vibing off of that track and it was nice to see more changes of pace without veering to far from the sound that makes the band what they are. As most people know, I also like crowd involvement and rank that very highly in how I review a band. I liked the added touch when BC called up ladies to "shake their thang on stage", well those are my words, but you know what I mean. Several ladies willingly obliged and the group rocked along while the lovelies worked out any angst that they may have been feeling to the music being played.

For all of you who haven't had a chance to check out the group, be sure to check out their Myspace and cop that new album. According to BC, the album is divided into three parts: the first four tracks being the commercial radio ready songs, tracks 5-10 being a story told to music and beats, and the last part of the album a mix that can be considered a bonus part of the album in which they have different styles.

Meriwether Review

http://ghostlaborradio.com/interviews.aspx?i=105

Meriwether - www.myspace.com/meriwether

Next up we checked out the rock act Meriwether from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The aspect of the show that made this act different is that they are signed to a major record label, Suretone/Interscope. Although I don't know all of the details of the appearance, I thought it was pretty cool that a major label act was playing in Houston with several Houston bands. With that said, the band did not disappoint with their appearance. One immediate difference between their act and the rest is that the audience knew a lot of their songs and that made the energy of the crowd go up several notches. I did have trouble during several of the songs hearing the lead singer’s vocals, but I think it was due to the superior firepower of their guitars and drums compared to some of the other acts. The riffs were just that much stronger and the drum had this full sound that could not be denied.

The show ended with two young kids who were in the crowd coming on stage and playing with the group. Imagine the fun they must have had telling classmates about what they did during their weekend! The group's sound was all rock, all the time, and they played with the energy to match.

Nothing More Review

http://ghostlaborradio.com/interviews.aspx?i=106

Nothing More- myspace.com/nothingmoremusic

Every so often, you are treated to something special in life. You know, like the Sunday that your mom took you shopping at the mall for no special reason, or one of those Christmas days where you get every present that you asked to receive? For someone like me that gets to review lots of musical acts, the San Antonio based act Nothing More provided that spark.

Let me start by saying that I hope more bands can check out this live show and use it as a way to fine tune their own performances. The lead singer really understood crowd participation and playing to the folks in the venue, as witnessed ten seconds into the first song, when he jumped on a partition that sat above the stage and sang looking down on the crowd. From that opening moment it only got better as the show went on as the group plays with such a fervor and passion that you truly cannot ignore their show. It is quite unusual to watch as someone with such a powerful voice as their lead singer has to jump in and start playing the drums, yet that is exactly what he does during the set. The band is so progressive and has such an attitude that it amazes me that they are not somewhere in Hollywood playing right now.

The most memorable part of their show was the song that they played where the two guitarist put hats with cymbals on top of their heads. From there they both began to play the cymbals off of the heads of the other member, the whole while never missing a beat. It was just about as crucial and stunning to watch as any part of a live show that I have seen.

If you don't see this act on your television in the near future, then feel free to write an email to me and let me know that my review skills are wack, but I don't think that is going to happen.

Cerebro Review

http://ghostlaborradio.com/interviews.aspx?i=107

Cerebro- myspace.com/cerebroband

In an effort to balance the show, I can truly see why The Crisis chose to play with the band Cerebro. This Houston based act provided an eclectic mix of sounds that some may label as experimentally progressive rock. In quite a few of the licks during the set, one could hear a tinge of funk, blues, rock, and even a little soul. The music made for a chilled out part of the show that was enjoyable.

I was impressed that the group could play so thoughtfully right after a more traditional sounding rock band such as Jane Frequency. Sometimes when the crowd is feeling a certain sound, changing said sound throws off the balance of the show. Fortunately for all of our ears, their lead singer's cool and vibe filled voice laid waste to that theory. It actually made the venue feel somewhat bohemian as the music scene in Austin or San Francisco lends life to their artists. It was at once, funky, cerebral and a uniquely haunting sound that you cannot forget.

Jane Frequency Review

http://ghostlaborradio.com/interviews.aspx?i=108

Jane Frequency- myspace.com/janerock

Kicking off the show were the members of Jane Frequency. The first song was an energetic mix with the most notable presence being that of the drummer. He jumped the set from the get go and I was definitely feeling the group. They have a great mix of rock with some electronic sounds, courtesy of their trusty Korg based synth. The lead singer had a terrific voice, and reminded me of a young Jacoby Dakota Shaddix, the lead singer of Papa Roach.

Overall the band had a great vibe, though I would make one recommendation that they make sure to tell the audience the names of their songs. That way, when the songs are felt by the audience, they can remember and download them later. Lest I forget, the band did mention that they were proudly representing H-Town and our Second Ward, so big ups on that note.

Make The Trap Say Aye - OJ Da JuiceMan -Gucci Mane

http://ghostlaborradio.com/interviews.aspx?i=94

In the era of "Trap Music", most of the writers of this style seem to hail from the dirty dirty South (Atlanta, Georgia in this case).
In keeping with this tradition OJ Da Juice Man and Gucci Mane set off to show us how to "Make The Trap Say Aye". The beat and its organ and 808 drum heavy thump instantly brings to mind Memphis or Atlanta rap at its finest.

As a hook heavy song, I knew the hook by my second spin with the iPod on repeat, with my favorite part being "Juice Man and Gucci Man make the trap say Aye". What I love about this particular song is its focus on the trap and the true hustle of street rap. We all have to recognize that street rap is as much a part of rap as backpack hip hop may be a part of hip hop. Whether you like it or not, keeping the streets alive in rap goes back as far as Kool G Rap and NWA. Without this element of the game we may only hear one sided happy, snap, and dance rap. And while I am all for making better music, real recognizes real, "Half a brick, whole brick/got me buying acres", and that sums up the way things are in looked at in the urban communities of 2009.

In the end, I would rather have someone tell me to my face how things are in the 'hood than live in a fallacy that everything is just fine and groovy. With that said, I know that OJ Da Juice Man will continue to grow as an artist and one day be able to "leave the trap behind", ya dig?

B.o.B - "I'll Be In The Sky" Review

http://ghostlaborradio.com/interviews.aspx?i=91

"I'll Be In The Sky"

Once in a blue moon an artist comes along that captures your attention from the first time you hear their lyrics and B.o.B is that type of special performer. I first heard of B.o.B while listening to popular mixtapes from the Atlanta area in 2008 and his verse on "I'm that Nig**" ft. T.I. immediately impressed with his ability to stand toe to toe with one of the best rappers in the game. His nascent flow reminds one of a young Andre 3000 and although I know that rappers dread the inevitable "who does he sound like" question/comparison, one must remember that Kobe is compared to Jordan, Lebron to Kobe and so forth. It is how we rationalize in our heads the greatness that we have seen and the coming of something new and fresh.

When I first encountered B.o.B and his series of mixtapes and songs, I never imagined that I would run into a song that would remind me why I love hip hop. In an effort to remind me that the feces that we often encounter on top 40 radio rap is not indicative of a lack of talent from the current hip hop generation, B.o.B so kindly blessed my iPod with the down to earth single "Ill Be In the Sky".

Over a series of penetrating piano keys and a crisp set of snare drums, B.o.B drops some of the best bars this side of Bourbon Street that I have heard in many a wasted hot beat. "Not writing and reading a lot/money and weed is in my shoebox now, And I'm trying to get me a glock", if this is not vintage hip hop with visual rendering and stunning placement of conceptual structure, then I don't know real hip hop. What really sets the song apart from other moronic ramblings of personal angst or soul searching fools, is the flowing transition into the hook and the chorus. I must admit that my 13 year old son and I spend every Friday morning driving to school chanting the memorable transition to the hook "I was a man with no name, now I'm attributing more fame/but all of this ain't gonna matter when I die and say goodbye - SO LONG!, Sayonara/I have to catch you tomorrow maybe, cuz baby - I'll Be In the Sky". We all know that "Gold teeth don't really match with a suit", but to hear this echoed in song shows that an artist has keen sense of self and the world in which we live. Music Reviews are just that, but I hope that our inner city youth are paying attention to the message of the song. It is important that we all strive to reach our full potential and not limit ourselves to simply "swanging and banging", being playas and pimps, or gangstas. If Barack can conquer the White House, then it is not too much to ask that we simply make better music.

To note that this song may be considered to have atypical radio appeal, as B.o.B says in "Generation Lost", "An if you make good music, that's okay/but on the radio, that, they don't play". Well said Bobby Ray, but my hope is that with the help of the fans who buy and support your music, we can turn this industry on its head. We need more B.o.B's and less artists that want to purvey to our youth the nonsense that all minorities must sell dope, pimp, kill, shoot or rob to make hit records.

Mic Skills ft PKT: Cirque du Soleil (Defiant CD)

http://ghostlaborradio.com/interviews.aspx?i=90

Cirque du Soleil (DEFIANT CD) -

When describing an artist and the work that embodies the artist's overall feel and zeal for the hip hop game, one cannot ignore the passion that is poured into individual songs. Cirque du Soleil off of the 2009 release by Mic Skills defines the individual parts of excellence.

The beat offers authentic symphonic strings, strong pulsating drums with great snares and punch, and a melodic bass line. What sets this song apart from others is that the flow is matched in tune with the song. While many typical 2000’s era emcees seem to forget that the words and the beat should perform a mutually admiring collaboration, this song provides the balance needed to match the two with synchronous timing.

Mic Skills and PKT provide three straight verses that lift the beat from simply being to full existence. In a testament to his rap moniker, Mic Skills provides devastating microphone skills while rapping in double time, which is always challenging for any emcee. Alongside Mic Skills, PKT demonstrates to bottle popping rappers that he is "focused on dropping jewels over beats" instead of using rap to acquire jewels, Mic Skills flows along with clever punches such as "I'm no boy scout I was a webelo".

For fans of authentic, heartfelt hip hop, you won’t be disappointed by this mature version of 2009 hip hop, which simply proves the age old adage that "fine wine only gets better with time". Mic Skills and PKT deliver one of the hottest joints this side of ether for your ears to indulge and I for one left with the feeling that not only is the pulse of hip hop beating strongly, but it is beating stronger than ever.

Chasing Saints at the Viper Room

http://ghostlaborradio.com/interviews.aspx?i=87

Rudy D. visits the Viper Room in L.A. for interviews with Chasing Saints and Eric Knight.

Chasing Saints bio:

When Ray Zeiters decided to put music on the backburner in order to pursue an acting career he never imagined that it would in fact catapult him to the front-man position for the Los Angeles based band, Chasing Saints. Had it not been for a chance response to a Craigslist ad, he may have been reading scripts instead of writing lyrics. Instead he and fellow band-mate, Michael Elsner began writing songs together and have recently completed their debut album.

Featuring a multitude of melodies that share themes of love, loss, loneliness, regret and redemption, the band's first album resonates with songs about living life and recovering from it. Their unique blend of sentimental lyrics and rock inspired guitar riffs has caught the attention of music supervisors and fans alike. The inspirational and harmonically rich "Somedays" has already garnered praise in the form of an L.A. Music Award nomination for best adult contemporary group with vocal. Intense and yearning "You Again", found its way onto the small screen as a featured song on CBS' Cold Case, while "Ignorance" was featured in the independent film, "Return with Honor".

Full Service Interview with Rudy D

http://ghostlaborradio.com/interviews.aspx?i=63

Live From the House of Blues tour with Badfish.

An excerpt from the Full Service Diary about the shows: TourSaw with Scotty Don't and Badfish There have been many an amazing tour in the history of this here band. There was, of course, Toursaw I; "the first" always has a special place in the heart. The Takeover Tour, too, was memorable for obvious reasons. But this last tour definitely ranks high. Our friends Scotty Don't (who moonlight as "Badfish: A Tribute to Sublime") invited us to play 4 dates with them in Baton Rouge, Dallas, Houston, and Austin. As the following videos will attest, one of the reasons these shows were exciting was because of the venues and the large crowds (House Of Blues in Dallas and Houston, Varsity Theater in Baton Rouge, and Emo's in Austin). But perhaps more importantly, the shows will forever go down in history because of the bond we formed with a band who proved to be, by the end of our little run with them (they continue on for months after last Sunday's Austin date,) our kindred spirits. They were into playing soccer, they had a trumpet player who was kind enough to sit in with us for "Trumpets," their merch dude was one of the kindest, funniest people we've ever met, their drummer greeted us at our first show with them in Baton Rouge holding an ice bag to his ridiculously swollen black eye (something about defending Pat Benatar against an angry drunk bully after their show in New Orleans?), their singer pins a photo of The Fonz on his amp and skates around on his ripstick inside the venue before shows, and their bass player repeatedly challenged Bonesaw's manhood with competitive banter on and off the field. And not only this, but they work harder than any band we've seen and they play their hearts out every single night. So, many thanks to these guys for the opportunity to play those shows with them. We made a boatload of new fans and we are greatful for that chance.

House Of Blues and Fitz

http://ghostlaborradio.com/interviews.aspx?i=13

Badfish - House of Blues
Leave Your Genre at the Door - Fitzgerald's
We are covering two events tonight:

On Saturday, January 24th, 2008, Ghost Labor Radio attended the LSPS/ "Leave Your Genre At the Door" concert series at Fitzgerald's in Houston, Texas. The bill included many awesome Houston, Austin and Galveston area bands, including LSPS and Melovine, and hip hop acts such as Perseph 1. First, I would like to commend Fitz for putting together such a diverse show with wide ranging acts. As a former music executive, one of my passions is to not box in performers solely based upon their genre. Why shouldn't a hot local area Rock Band be allowed to co-exist during a concert performance with a scorching hip hop talent? As long as the acts have a balance and provide music that the crowd enjoys, let's just enjoy the music.

We were able to witness several acts:
Sad Gorilla
Wings Burn Away
Perseph 1
Powderburn

Sad Gorilla was the first act of the night and I must say that their style is not one that we would generally cover. If I had to label their style I would say that it was an eclectic mix of Pop, Rock, Blues, and Soul. I am not sure that mixing all four is a good thing, but they definitely had their own vibe and crowd following. Interestingly enough, one of the band members also performed during Perseph 1's act later in the evening. If I were to offer anything of use to the band it would be that they should find a definitive style and try to stick with that one style. Sometimes when you mix too many styles you get an output that is often out of sync with a strong performance and that is the feeling I left with.

Wings Burn Away was the next act we observed and I was a bit more impressed with this Metal band. The song that we were able to check out was "Shipwrecked". The lead singer immediately got the crowd involved with the familiar "I can't hear you" refrain and showed great showmanship, playing with one finger on his keytar. The electric guitarist was definitely into his set, taking off his shirt midway through, although that probably played better with the ladies than it did with me. Although their set was short, they definitely were a great opening act for LSPS who would play later in the evening.

Perseph 1 was the next act that we were able to check out and she came right out ripping non-strained hip hop jewels to the audience. The thing that impresses me most about Perseph 1 is how quiet she is off the set and how she goes straight at the crowd the next minute. The biggest drawback I can see for Perseph is that her version of experimental hip hop may be over the crowd's head that she is playing to. Houston is known for our slow southern music, Screwed and Chopped of course. Perseph has an incredible range with her style and would probably be a platinum selling artist if she could get to the West or East coast. The live drums that she enlivened her set with along with the band member from Sad Gorilla playing on the vocoder/voice box, made for a show reminiscent of something you would see on VH1 or MTV. The song "Heavenly Life" was a memorable opening performance and the rest of her show did not disappoint.

The final act we saw that night was the Austin based Metal act, Powderburn. Immediately from watching these guys and judging by their Jagermeister sponsorship, you could sense that they are an act on the verge of being a mainstream rock act. First I want to say that I love the local Houston rock scene, and I definitely think we have a scene. I say that as if I am holding a loaded grenade, because as much as I think we are ready to blow up nationally, I think Austin is just that one step ahead of where we are. That is not to say that we lack talent, but I think the live music scene in Austin allows bands such as Powderburn a place to hone their craft.
The song that was probably my favorite was "Echoed In Red''. The guitar riffs and incessant pounding of the drums was definitely a great jump off for that set. I loved how the lead singer threw koozies into the crowd. Giving away free gifts to your crowd can never hurt guys!

All things being equal, I would love to see more mixing of crowds like this. There is no reason in heck that Hip Hop and Rock can''t coexist, ya hear!

Five Dollar Friends performance

http://ghostlaborradio.com/interviews.aspx?i=6

On December 19th at Avant Garden in Houston, Texas, it was a pleasure to attend a live acoustic recording session featuring Five Dollar Friend.

During this awesome set Jeff Crowder (the lead singer of Deep Ella) was the opening act and provided a spirited, albeit brief, performance. Raking out tunes such as 'Summer Love' and 'Sleeping Pills', the set left the feeling that a music scene really does exist in Houston. Jeff's performance as a solo act was very moving and got the crowd ready for the main act of the night, Five Dollar Friend.

Five Dollar Friend is composed of the following band members:

Jacob Trevino - vocals, guitar
David Wechsler - bass guitar, occasional backup vocals
Adam - lead guitar, vocals
Michelle- vocals, keyboard

The band opened up the set with heart pumping vocals and immediately proved that the night would be filled with a memorable performance. Along the way, they performed a spirited song called 'Pick Up' and another moving song entitled 'Dancehall'. Both songs definitely energized the crowd and left us waiting for more. Fortunately we were not disappointed as one of my favorites of the night, 'Bullets To Bleed', an emotional tribute to a friend in need, provided musical balance to the evenings selections. In a nutshell, the band had a terrific performance and I definitely expect to see more of this act in the near future.

Ice Cube/Five Doza

http://ghostlaborradio.com/interviews.aspx?i=5

A hip-hop pioneer, movie producer, actor, Ice Cube has built a resume unmatched by anyone in the industry. Saturday, Dec. 12, 2008 at the Meridian in Houston, Tx, He showed and proved why he is far from done. Performing hit after hit to a packed house that included other hip-hop legends, (Scarface,Willie D) it was easy to get lost to the music, jam, and enjoy the party environment that he created. Ice Cube, who always recieves much love from Houston, had the crowd moving, dancing, and filled the venue with the energy of his hit making grooves. I had so much fun at this show and expect him to continue doing his thing. There were no sighns of a slow down from this entertainment legend. I highly recommend an Ice Cube Show. It's nothing but a good time!!

Also on the bill was an up and coming group from Houston called 5 Doza. A very creative group, they showed the crowd why they should expect to hear alot about them in the future. With grooves like " Shorty gets Down" and "You know who we are", as well as a popular mix tape cd in circulation, be sure to check this group out at
www.myspace.com/fivedoza
Always show support to your local artist!!!

J Money Interview with Rudy D.

http://ghostlaborradio.com/interviews.aspx?i=33

J Money is a Southern rap artist from Crawford, Mississippi. J Money grew up with music like blues and R&B, but soon gravitated towards hip hop. J Money cites LL Cool J and Tupac as major influences for his musical career. While attending college playing baseball, an injury sidelined J Money from trying out for the pros. After dropping the single Peanut Butter & Jelly with fellow Mississippi native Cadillac Don, the song gained national attention. The single's music video was directed by Brian Frank and released in 2006.

His new album includes guest appearances from Yo Gotti, Jim Jones, Tremble, Slim Thug and 8ball and MJG. The album features the hit singles "I'M BALLIN" with Rick Ross and "SHE BAD" with Lil Boosie.

Bushwick Bill Interview with Thrill Hill

http://ghostlaborradio.com/interviews.aspx?i=36

Thrill Hill catches a few words from the legendary Geto Boy, Bushwick Bill. Rudy D. gets the picture.

Bushwick Bill Bio

BUSHWICK BILL AKA DR. WOLFGANG VON BUSHWICKIN THE BARBARIAN MOTHER-FUNKY STAY HIGH DOLLAR BILLSTIR…My last name was Bushwick Motherf**king Bill, so I had to upgrade it to show some expansion and to show everybody who the biggest Geto Boy of all is. My new name is Dr. Wolfgang Von Bushwickin the Barbarian Mother Funky Stay High Dollar Billstir.I call myself Dr. because that is someone who must be precise when they execute their job. The Wolfgang is because on the cool, I’m into classical music and my favorite artist is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Bushwickin has to do with me being a father now and producing my own next of kin. So now I’m reproductive both verbally and physically. The Barbarian is to show that I still have the mind of a lunatic and that nothing’s changed as far as me coming hard-core rough and rugged. Mother Funky Stay High is a manifestation of the aftermath of chronic-izm. Dollar Bill because I’m currently currency in the United States and abroad. Finally, “stir” is on the end because when I kick shit I always manage to stir something up, whether it’s the police, parents or p**sy.
He’s one of the most recognized and respected artists in rap music. As a solo artist and member of the Geto Boys, he has written and performed music on three gold and platinum albums, all of which have gone to the top spot on various charts and sold close to three million copies. In 1988 Bushwick and label mate, Gangsta Nip, won renown for co-opting and reinventing the horror movie style in his music and lyrics. That style of graphic rap would later be known as horror-core.

Dr. Wolfgang Von Bushwick the Barbarian Mother Funky Stay High Dollar Billstir aka Bushwick Bill was born in the Trenchtown section of Jamaica and while he was still a youngster, he moved to the Flatbush area of Brooklyn, N.Y. Tired of New York City and anxious for a change of scenery, he moved to Houston, Texas in 1987, where he would become a member of the fledgling rap group, the Geto Boys. “When I met James Smith I was just a dancer and then he told me that I could rap and he was right. Then he hooked me up with John Bido-One from JungleStyle and he helped me develop my recording skills and the rest has been history.” Remembers Bushwickin. He remains the only original member of the Geto Boys group that began back in ‘87.

Mike "Quick" Swick Interview with Rudy D.

http://ghostlaborradio.com/interviews.aspx?i=31

Mike “Quick” Swick (born June 19, 1979 in Houston, Texas) is an American professional mixed martial arts fighter. Rudy D. meets up with Mike and gets the low down on his career and upcoming fights.

He was a participant in the first season of The Ultimate Fighter, a reality television series produced by the Ultimate Fighting Championship, which is one of the reasons for his popularity. He was eliminated from the competition after a semi-final loss to Stephan Bonnar. Prior to being cast on the Ultimate Fighter, he previously lost to fellow TUF alumni Chris Leben by 2nd round Knock Out. Ironically, they would both become members of Randy Couture's team. Swick's story on that loss was that he was not used to fighting southpaws like Leben, and had no training in fighting them.

At The Ultimate Fighter finale, Swick defeated Alex Schoenauer by knockout at 20 seconds into the first round, earning the nickname "Quick" from UFC announcer Mike Goldberg. Since, he has lived up to his nickname by defeating Gideon Ray via KO at :22, Steve Vigneault via submission at 2:09 and Joe Riggs via submission at 2:19. Most of the wins have come by knockout, but also he has been known for using a guillotine choke in closed guard named the "Swickitine".

At UFC 63 Swick beat former title challenger David Loiseau via unanimous decision, where he suffered a hand injury found out to be ligament damage. He went on to challenge middleweight champion Anderson Silva. Swick's first UFC defeat came at UFC 69, losing by decision to Japanese middleweight Yushin Okami.

Adrenaline / Affliction On March 28, 2008, Sylvia signed with Adrenaline MMA, formerly M-1 Global, to a two-year contract that allows him to fight for other organizations while under contract with Adrenaline. On Saturday, July 19th, the former UFC heavyweight champion finally met Fedor in the ring. Sylvia characteristically stalked his opponent, looking to take advantage of his immense reach with a few jabs, but Fedor responded immediately with a hard barrage of punches that put the big man on the mat.
12 Stones Frontman, Paul McCoy Interview with Rudy

http://ghostlaborradio.com/interviews.aspx?i=24

Rudy D. catches up with 12 Stones frontman Paul McCoy after the 6/23/2008 show at Club Meridian headlined by Shinedown.

12 Stones was formed in 2000 in Mandeville, Louisiana, a small suburb north of New Orleans. The first line-up consisted of Paul McCoy (vocals), Kevin Dorr (bass), Eric Weaver (guitar), and Patrick Quave (drums) who was later replaced by Aaron Gainer.

After performing several live shows, the band recorded a demo and went to New York City where they performed at an industry showcase. After that, the band was signed up by Wind-Up Records.

The band's eponymous debut album was released in 2002, produced by Jay Baumgardner. The band gained more fame when vocalist McCoy performed in Evanescence's song "Bring Me to Life" opposite Amy Lee. The song was included in both Evanescence's album, Fallen and in the Daredevil film soundtrack.

In 2004, Kevin Dorr quit the band and touring guitarist Greg Trammell later became an official member.

Their second album, Potter's Field came out in 2004. Both albums were supported with heavy touring. Clint Amereno and then Aaron Hill were brought in to play bass for the shows. After their last tour, the band decided to take a break from the band to be with their respective families.

Trammell left prior to the recording of the next album, leaving the band without a second guitarist. After completion of the CD, one of its collaborators, ex-Breaking Point guitarist Justin Rimer, took over this position. The new lineup was later completed with the addition of former Presence bassist DJ Stange.

Their third album, Anthem For The Underdog, was released in 2007. The album is said to be inspired by the effects of Hurricane Katrina on their hometown.

Shortly after the album's release, Stange quit and was replaced by Shawn Wade, formerly of the band Silence Is Broken.

You are witnessing a menace to the establishment, Mic Skills. While effortlessly balancing a unique vision and creative style he maintains a defiant swagger. As the Featured Artist (and proprietor) of the Houston staple event Mission Control he has built a legacy of memorable events featuring passionate stage performances. The honesty in his songs is a rarity that consistently pushes the envelope of artistry in a time of fabricated personas and over-hyped superstars. The sharp, in-your-face lyrics will smack you in the head and then at other times they calmly convey his deepest thoughts on an array of topics. Mic Skills has opened for several national artists, has been featured on and released several mixtapes, but has now set his ambitions higher. His yet to be released debut album promises to shake the foundation of music as he emerges onto the forefront.

Interview by Thrill Hill

Bam Artist Bio and Background

BAM exemplifies his mastery skills of street lyrical poetry to an all time high! He's back with a significant purpose to regain and conquer the Rap charts once more with the release of his sophomore album Ghetto Graduate. The album is a reality course all Rap music critics should undertake and fans appreciate.

One of the most successful and controversial Rap artist of all time. Motivated by non-believers --- I want to give thanks to everybody who didnt think I was gonna make it, I appreciate it. An innate force of self-expression drives BAM; BAM is slamming the scene once again with killa lyrics and resurrecting tracks.

In order to understand why I am the way I am you have to look beyond me. The mentality of an individual always starts at home. BAMs junior album Ghetto Graduate is one of his best works! The first release Ghetto Graduate has taken the hood by storm and their response, BAMs Back.
